I started Smooth Wave in October of twenty-twenty three with the goal of serving high school athletes and their families. When I did my research, I saw that a lot of high schoolers do not get the proper coverage and a lot of memories are left only to the mind when they could be in picture frames in home of loved ones around the country. That research led me to narrow my scope of influence to the sport of women’s volleyball. During my time as a content creator I became aware of the massive hole in such a phenomenal sport; the lack of coverage. In high school gyms around my hometown of Toledo I frequently find myself as the only with a camera in my hand. To make matters worse, I went to my first volleyball tournament with some of the top players in the nation - over five thousand players - and there was at most five people in there covering the sport that were not parents.
This was a problem that needed solving.
So I decided to dedicate my creative efforts to ensuring these phenomenal athletes had coverage that they could depend on and would be proud of. Since that day, I have been to handful of national tournaments, several college matches and probably north of seventy five to one-hundred high school matches. I have found immense joy through the relationships I have built with the players and their families. My goal is to continue to help grow this sport and highlight the sensational athletes that I have come to enjoy being around.
My faith in Jesus Christ is a guiding principle in my life. I am a firm believer that Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life and died for the sins of all humanity. This truth directs my thoughts and actions as I interact with the world around me and seek to live out His calling on my life. I am driven by Philippians chapter two, verses three and four which reads:
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.“
I am joined in this endeavor by my beautiful wife Anna and our delightful young son C.J. We have enjoyed making volleyball our home and we look forward to all that God will bring us through it.
